Do you always try and use HTML5 and CSS3 in your new designs?

I feel it's good to stay W3C compliant and try to meet the best current coding practices just so the code looks neater.

I kind of hope Google would also prefer sites that are better coded so this always inspires me to keep coding as light as possible.
