About 5 years ago Directories were okay for building PR, but not anymore. Google simply ignores the links and in some cases if you get too many, they will penalize you. Stick with legit links and stay clear of this tactic.
Directoires are a joke now, nobody does them anymore they are a waste of time and money.
I've noticed over the last few years that directory sites, even bad ones that are fairly small, do well for being awarded high PR. I have also seen a trend that their domain names make no mention of being a directory but rather a short brandable domain name. Makes me wonder if the entire directory itself is just a way to boost PR before the high PR brandable domain is flipped for a nice payday.
